Carney earns win, POTD in homecoming

Cameron Carney (Tusculum), originally from Niagara Falls, NY, went back to the western-most area of New York on Tuesday night to pitch for the Rochester Ridgemen against his hometown NYCBL team, the Niagara Power.

For the fourth time this season, Carney pitched a complete game and in all four of those trips to the mound, he has come away victorious, taking the latest of them 4-2 over the Power.

Carney scattered five hits while allowing two late runs, neither of them earned. He overpowered the Niagara lineup for nine strikeouts, the third time this season he has struck out seven or more.

The Tusculum College senior is the first Ridgemen to win the award twice this season, as this is the fourth time a pitcher on Joe Shallenberger’s squad has won the award.

It’s the seventh time overall that Rochester has taken a daily award. The Ridgemen continue their playoff push Wednesday night, taking on the Niagara Power again at 7:00 p.m.,
